Unleash the Paws was founded by Donald and Aggie, two animal lovers who never imagined the scale of the overpopulation crisis in Texas. Originally from Pennsylvania, we had no idea how many dogs and cats were abandoned, struggling to survive, or tragically losing their lives on the side of the road.

After moving to Texas, we saw the heartbreaking reality firsthand. Determined to help, we visited a local animal shelter and learned that they were constantly over capacity, forced to euthanize animals daily just to make room for more. 

That’s when we rescued our first two dogs, Dallas and Daisy, from the euthanasia list at Fort Worth Animal Control. We found them loving homes quickly—and that was just the beginning.

From that point on, we continued pulling dogs from urgent lists, but we also couldn’t ignore the countless strays we saw abandoned along the roads. For two years, we dedicated our lives—and our entire savings and retirement funds—to rescuing as many as we could. When we finally ran out of money, we realized we couldn’t do this alone. We needed help.

In 2024, thanks to the generosity of our community, we were blessed to raise around $8,000, which covered medical care for about 40 animals. This support gave us hope, and now, we’re working to help even more animals in need—with your help.

We run our rescue entirely from our own property, dedicating every moment of our time to saving lives. Our dream is to one day open an animal sanctuary where we can provide a safe haven for the unadoptable ones. In the meantime, we’re working to build a network of fosters so we can rescue even more animals from shelters and the streets.
